S/Y Night Image is a Verl Hustler 33, a British strongly built fast cruiser/racer with bags of attitude. The Hustler 33 hull design was originally based on the very successful Half Ton offshore racer Hustler 32, which yacht designer Stephen Jones created in the late 70’s. Night Image offers superb sailing performance in both light and strong winds and yet she has a reputation for being seaworthy, comfortable, well balanced and easily handled even in heavy weather.

Given the right conditions, we hope to engage in some fast and exhilarating sailing.

On deck

Night Image has a deep and large cockpit which guarantees a crew of four or five to comfortably sit around without kicking each other for space and allows good shelter from the weather and sea when things get a bit lively.

The interiors

Night Image’s interior is very spacious and comfortable for the size of the boat. The internal spaces comprises of:

  • A good standing headroom throughout
  • A practical galley (kitchen) with a sink and plenty of workable surfaces.
  • A generous U shaped saloon with central table
  • A large single bunk just behind the chart table (captain s navigation space).

  • A very large double bunk on the port side (left) and two single bunks on the starboard side (right) in the saloon (main cabin space)

  • A very comfortable double cabin on the front for the couples who need some privacy
  • A head (toilet) with a wash basin and a WC
  • Enough storage space behind and under the bunks.

Although Night Image offers space for seven people to sleep, I found that the ideal number of people actually living on board is about four (possibly five but only for short periods of time).

Equipment

I have three GPS navigation systems, one hand held Garmin unit which I always have handy in the cockpit, one fixed Shipmate GPS unit which is a good back up and a laptop based chart plotter linked to another GPS antenna. Having said that I love to do most the navigation using the traditional method (log, compass and good old fashion pencil and paper charts), it’s just more fun!

There is also a Navtex, barometer for weather forecast and a VHF radio, tiller autopilot, depth echo sounder, log and wind speed/direction instruments.

Oh and there is also a radio onboard which I link to an mp3 player.

Safety equipment include flares, lifejackets, safety harnesses, fire extinguishers, life raft etc.
